We had recently observed Thanksgiving, and Christmas was approaching nearer and nearer. Today Laurie had pulled out the greater part of our Christmas enrichments, and I had gotten back home with a Christmas tree. Today evening time we wanted to embellish it.
Laurie and I generally set up a genuine tree, not one of those universal impersonations available today. My folks dependably had a genuine tree when I was growing up, and Christmas would not be Christmas without one. I have a tendency to be nostalgic, particularly right now of the year, and a genuine Christmas tree was a family custom I unquestionably needed to keep up.
After we had completed supper and taken the canines for a walk, the time had come to begin. Laurie was looking truly charming this evening. She was wearing dark tights and a delightful red sweater. The sweater was a loose turtleneck with one of those larger than average, baggy necks, and it had a tremendous white snowflake on the front. She had pushed the sleeves most of the way up her lower arms, and her short hair was very windblown from strolling the puppies. She had run her fingers through it, however that was all. Laurie most likely would have thought she was very unpresentable, yet to cite a natural expression, I thought she was as beautiful as a photo.
